2.3.1 Apple-Ripeness-Test

• 1995 development of apple-ripeness-test (ART) system startet as a
  collaboration with "Staatliche Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt für Obstbau",
  Oppenheim, Dr. Herwig Köhler
• 1998 first prototype of ART-system introduced at "Interpoma",
  Bolzano, Italy
• Continuously improved

2.3.1 Apple-Ripeness-Test – Key features

• Based on Database-Software for direct datacollection from sensors (i.e. Size, Color, Ripeness, Sugarcontent, Firmness etc) by just pressing a button
  Specially developed image-analysis tool for estimation of ripeness
• Specially designed penetrometer for firmness- and sugarcontentmeasurement

• Instrument for fast firmness-measurements of Softfruit or similar
  objects
• Automatic data-aquisition and import into Soft-Fruit-Database
